5.18.12 RHONDAVOUS W/ TEVO HOWARD & DJ NATURE

Hello lovers,

The time is upon us once again. The time to break free of your daily routine, to shed your inhibitions, and gather all your friends at once for a night of rapturous celebration; It’s time for RHONDAVOUS.

After a much needed (and rather titillating) holiday, I am returning to my fair City of Angels next Friday, May 18th and bringing a few choice souvenirs back with me from my travels. From Chicago I’m bringing you TEVO HOWARD, the 80’s DJ prodigy turned contemporary analog mastermind and man behind Beautiful Granville Records. In New York I picked up legendary British DJ/producer and founding member of The Wild Bunch soundsystem, DJ NATURE. If that wasn’t enough for you we’ll have another special guest in addition to our homegrown team: Goddollars, Paradise, MC Russinabox, and Gregory Alexander.

Join my beautiful accomplices and I next Friday at 333 Live (333 Boylston St.) from 9pm to 3am for another lesson from the field on being a hedonist. RSVP yourself at Rhondasays.net for Free Entry & 2-4-1 drinks till 10pm.

4.14.12 RHONDA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been working my pretty little ass off lately and I think a day of fun in the sun is in order for all of us. Yes honey, let’s pack the heels away and head out for a desert holiday. A gorgeous afternoon in the sun complete with house, disco, drinks, and a beautiful pool full of debauchery is exactly what the doctor ordered…and that’s exactly what I plan on delivering. So join me in the desert next Saturday, April 14th as Scion A/V presents RHONDA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT at The Saguaro Hotel from noon-6pm.

Of course you know I’m not coming alone, along with me I’ll be bringing a whole slew of my sexy friends, so let me introduce them to you.  First up we have the man, the myth, the monster, DJ HARVEY. Having just destroyed the dancefloor at RHONDAVOUS last month as well as in Austin for A CLUB CALLED RHONDA during SXSW, I just HAD to bring Mr. Sarcastic Disco himself along for the ride. Another lovely Rhonda alumn who will be bringing it and bringing it well is none other than that bewitching Belgian boy AEROPLANE. Next up we have the fantastic floor pumpers TIGER & WOODS coming out from Italy to get down with you. Rounding out the afternoon we’ll have my good friends and local stars POOLSIDE doing exactly what their music was made to do, set the pool party off right! Of course my usual hooligans would never miss out on the party so lookout for a killer set from GODDOLLARS, shout outs from MC RUSSINABOX, and daring looks from GREGORY ALEXANDER.

Make sure to follow these steps to ensure you are properly prepared for the party:

  1. RSVP yourself at SCIONAV.COM/PSRHONDA for entry
  2. Work a bold look …and make sure it comes off easy.
  3. Arrive early. You don’t wanna be stuck outside missing all the juicy goodness within.
  4. Wear sunscreen. Tan is good, red is bad.
  5. Leave your inhibitions at home. Nobody likes a prude.
  6. Bring bills. Everybody takes credit these days, but cash is still king.
  7. Carpool with a crew, preferably a sexy one, it’s just better for everybody.
  8. Be prepared to stay late. Once in my embrace you’re not gonna wanna leave so settle in and hold on tight.

See you in the desert.

Xoxo

-Rhonda

The Pop tART Gallery and the producers of A Club Called Rhonda in association withDJCN are pleased to present “Archival Jello: A Club Called Rhonda Retrospective: 2008-2012.”

A Club Called Rhonda is a Los Angeles based club night that has become a haven for self-expression amongst revelers of dance music. In only 4 short years the club has become legendary in its own right and has helped to garner attention for the burgeoning Los Angeles underground dance music scene. To celebrate Rhonda’s journey thus far Pop tART Gallery will exhibit imagery of the club that have led it to become a luminary in the Los Angeles nightlife scene – including pop culture inspired graphic design by art director Trevor Tarczynski alongside creative directors/club promoters Loren Granic and Gregory Alexander, vivid stills from Rhonda photographer’s Meredith Jenks and Michael Mendoza, and video installations from Rhonda’s ambiance technician Ryan Granic.

The bold imagery and phrasing that comprise the club’s visual and textual voice have defined a style born from epic evenings of glamour, debauchery, and hope all through the politics of dancing. The gallery’s interior will become home to all things Rhonda, displaying a selection of graphics, flyers, photographs, and videos which have all contributed to Rhonda’s “street cred” and reputation as one of LA’s hottest clubs.

But you may be asking yourself, who is this Rhonda? The creative brains behind the club have created a fictional demigod of nightlife. Rhonda is a virtual club diva who speaks in all capital letters and is far too busy jet-setting around the world looking for the hottest DJs and most inspiring acts to ever attend her own club. It is the dichotomy of condescension and love that makes these evenings so special. The absentee diva remotely updates her fans from an undisclosed location about the uber cutting edge acts she has booked for the night. Despite her absence, she still manages to fascinate and keep her fans coming back for more.

The concept for the exhibit originated from the observation that the graphics that have accompanied some of these nights are consistently pulled down off the walls as memorabilia by club goers. They seem to represent a zeitgeist whose temporality is as illusive as Rhonda herself. Now, with this display, all of the work will be printed in archival format in the caliber of art that it should be sold and collected in. This exhibit offers a rare glimpse into LA’s underground club culture, its creative force and all the amazing people who come together to create A Club Called Rhonda.

This exhibition of work was made possible in part by the upcoming on-line programming network, DJCN. DJ Club Network is a fast-growing start-up building a new kind of program network from the Internet out to broadcast, rather than in reverse. Set to launch in 2012, DJCN captures the best in nightlife entertainment. On any given night, in every major city, the hottest place to be is at an exclusive nightclub with a legendary DJ. From New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, London, Paris, and Ibiza, DJCN has secured the rights to film, produce and distribute exclusive events from the largest roster of top DJs and clubs around the world. The Retrospective of graphic artwork from A Club Called Rhonda is the first collaboration between the two entities – with more to come – under the creative direction of the producers of A Club Called Rhonda.

RHONDAVOUS 01.13.12

RHONDAVOUS Friday the 13th with KENNY DOPE and MK.

Well, we made it everybody, it’s now the year 2012 and regardless of whether or not you believe the apocalypse is coming the new year provides us with fresh opportunities to reach Dionysian divinity. With every new year I feel it is my duty to take things even further, to strive for more, always higher and higher, and it is with that in mind that I wanted to start things off RIGHT in January; so cancel all plans surrounding January 13th and begin your preparations forRHONDAVOUS.

This month I bring to you some of the best in the business, men that have been an integral part in the formation of house music, legends, idols, and my personal friends KENNY DOPE and MK.

You may know Kenny Dope from a little group called MASTERS AT WORK (a.k.a. NUYORICAN SOUL) or from his other work as THE BUCKETHEADS. This man was a major part of my and so many other party people’s lives in New York, and has been labeled one of America’s most important contemporary producers. I am beyond ecstatic to bring him to the Rhonda stage to turn you all out.

MK (Marc Kinchen) is a legendary producer who pioneered the early techno scene on the east coast and is possibly best known in the house music world for his work on with NIGHTCRAWLERS. You may also remember that last year he lent a hand in the production of “Return To Me,” the first release off my labelRhonda InternationalMK and I have been trying to get reunited for a while now and I just can’t wait to have him as RHONDAVOUS marks his FIRST EVER “MK” DJ set in Los Angeles.

Of course my in house team of party purveyors GODDOLLARSPARADISEMC RUSSINABOX, and GREGORY ALEXANDER will be going full blast as well. Making you scream, shout, and sweat.

Follow as we get DEEP in 2012, beginning next Friday, January 13th with RHONDAVOUS at 333 S. Boylston St. from 9pm-3amRSVP atRhondasays.net to get in FREE before 10:30 and enjoy two-for-one drinks till 10p.m. After that it’ll be $10 till midnight and $15 after.
